OpenAI Safety team dismantled. OpenAI has disbanded its team focused on long-term AI safety, reassigning members to other projects, following the departure of key leaders who expressed concerns about the company's shifting priorities towards new products over safety.
The new WWE Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions. Apple is reportedly partnering with OpenAI to integrate a ChatGPT-like conversational AI assistant into iOS 18, potentially replacing Siri, despite concerns from some Apple executives about the risks of deceptive or manipulative chatbots.
Microsoft got its groove back. Microsoft has unveiled its vision for the future of Windows, introducing an AI-powered operating system called "Windows Copilot" at the Build 2024 conference, which aims to enhance user productivity and streamline tasks across PCs.
Do not call it a Dell comeback. Dell and Nvidia are hinting at a potential collaboration to develop AI-powered PCs, with both companies' leaders suggesting that future Dell PCs will incorporate Nvidia's AI technology, aiming to compete in the growing AI PC market currently dominated by Qualcomm.
The new Boogieman. Microsoft's new Recall feature for Copilot+ PCs, which captures encrypted screenshots at regular intervals, is under scrutiny by the UK's Information Commissioner's Office due to privacy concerns, with experts likening it to a "privacy nightmare" and questioning how user consent will be managed.
Scale AI has gone downtown on evaluation $. AI data-labeling startup Scale AI, which provides clean data to companies training advanced AI models, just raised a whopping $1B in Series F funding — valuing the company at nearly $14B
