Microsoft’s AI Safety Concern. Microsoft is postponing the release of a new AI feature due to security concerns. They want to ensure the feature is safe before making it available to the public.
Finally Apple is on the AI train. Apple's 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC24) introduced several new technologies and updates. Key highlights include the launch of Apple Intelligence, major updates to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2, as well as the expansion of Apple Vision Pro to more countries.
Elon Musk is pissed off at Apple. Elon Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies if Apple integrates ChatGPT into its operating system, citing security concerns. He stated that employees and visitors would need to store their Apple devices in a Faraday cage if the integration goes ahead.
Goodbye Microsoft GPT Builder for Co Pilot. Microsoft is discontinuing the GPT Builder tool in its Copilot Pro service for consumers, effective July 10, and will delete all associated data by July 14. The company is shifting its focus to commercial and enterprise applications, advising users to save their custom GPT instructions before the tool is removed.
Anyone can be a Hollywood producer soon. ALuma Labs has launched a new AI model called Dream Machine, which is available for anyone to try out today. This AI is designed to create high-quality, realistic videos from text and images, offering features like smooth motion and accurate physics in 5-second shots.
Samsung’s AI chip roadmap. Samsung is leading a significant investment round of at least $300 million in Tenstorrent, a Toronto-based AI chip startup, valuing the company at $2 billion. LG Electronics is also expected to join as a new investor alongside existing backers like Fidelity Management and Hyundai Motor Group.
Welcome, Miss Terminator. The Miss AI beauty pageant features AI-generated models competing based on their appearance, skillful use of AI tools, and social media reach. Despite being digital, these models advocate for various causes and have the potential to become influential social media figures, with some people even mistaking them for real humans.
Your local Government Chatbot. AI candidates are running for political office in various places, including the UK, Wyoming, and Belarus. These AI chatbots, like AI Steve and Virtual Integrated Citizen (VIC), aim to represent voters' views by interacting with them and summarizing their input, but they face significant legal and practical challenges, including the inability to participate in person and the risk of generating inaccurate information.
